Gorav Kalyan is a New York-based filmmaker and co-founder of Nonetheless Productions. Gorav studied philosophy at the College of New Jersey and moved to California in 2006, where he studied Film Directing at the California Institute of the Arts. He was a 2013 Film Independent Project: Involve fellow and has made feature length films, documentaries, short films, and music videos. Rohan Kalyan works in ASPECT and the Department of Political Science and International Studies at Virginia Tech. He teaches courses on globalization, urbanism, new media, gender, race, and class, political theory and postcolonial studies. His research is similarly trans-disciplinary, incorporating theoretical critique, documentary film production, ethnography and archival research. He has co-produced three documentary films with his brother Gorav Kalyan, who is based in New York City: (1) Ka wa ma hope: A History of the Future (2011), (2) Letter to the City Yet to Come (2015), and (3) The Biography of the Philosopher (2017).
